Sedimentology and stratigraphy of syn-subduction Miocene fine-grained turbidites deposited in first stages of trench-slope basin development: Whakataki Formation, North Island, New Zealand

چکیده
This study provides a detailed sedimentological, stratigraphic and depositional model for the lower Whakataki Formation. The fine-grained nature of turbidite successions common Tbcde suggests deposition associated with medial to distal submarine fan deposits. However, textural compositional immaturity, combined high carbonaceous carbonate content clastic sediments indicates proximal detrital input. In examined section Formation sedimentology facies associations identified that were deposited as dilute low-density turbidity currents transported sediment down-slope, overflowing or bypassing upper- mid-trench-slope basins into structurally confined trench-slope basin. Flows entering basin deflected north-northeast, producing palaeo-flow along axis represent in early stages development. Here, we provide (immature) highlight application ‘classical’ submarine-fan all deposits is not always appropriate.

Depositional Environment and Sequence Stratigraphy of the Oligocene-Miocene Deposits North and East of Dehdasht, Izeh Zone, Zagros Basin, Iran
In this study, four well-exposed outcrops of the Asmari Fm in the southeastern part of the Izeh Zone of the Zagros Mountains were measured and sampled. In this region, the Asmari Fm is Oligocene to Early Miocene in age as determined by large benthic foraminifera. Based on depositional geometries, biogenic contents and lateral and vertical variations of facies, three depositional models are prop...
متن کاملDiagenetic formation of ferrimagnetic iron sulphide minerals in rapidly deposited marine sediments, South Island, New Zealand
Detailed magnetostratigraphic studies of Late Neogene siliciclastic sediments of the Awatere Group, South Island, New Zealand (41°45'S, 174°05'E) have revealed a wide range of palaeomagnetic behaviour. Examination of rock magnetic properties was undertaken using conventional palaeomagnetic techniques and thermomagnetic, X-ray diffraction and electron microprobe analyses. These analyses indicate...
متن کاملsimulation and experimental studies for prediction mineral scale formation in oil field during mixing of injection and formation water
abstract: mineral scaling in oil and gas production equipment is one of the most important problem that occurs while water injection and it has been recognized to be a major operational problem. the incompatibility between injected and formation waters may result in inorganic scale precipitation in the equipment and reservoir and then reduction of oil production rate and water injection rate. ...

Stratigraphy, Sedimentology, and Sequence Stratigraphy of the Lower Triassic Sinbad Formation, San Rafael Swell, Utah
The Lower Triassic Sinbad Formation (Thaynes Group) in the San Rafael Swell of east-central Utah (11-18 m thick) represents the maximum flooding zone and at least part of the highstand systems tract of a 185+ m thick depositional sequence. The Sinbad Formation conformably overlies siliciclastic tidal flat, fluvial channel and carbonate peritidal deposits of the Black Dragon Formation, a transgr...
